Stand out from the crowd this season
From bright poppy colours to a myriad of exquisite textures, materials and shapes, this season’s catwalks had a look for everyone. Whether you want to experiment with dainty tulle or pretty pleats, shine bright in fuchsia or flowers, or dress to impress with theatrical sleeves, Eden Shopping Centre has all the trends covered. We shot this exclusive video to showcase the latest offerings from our selection of fabulous brands – so you can find your style this season.
Look 1 – Dramatic Sleeves
Whether ruffled, fluted, cropped, bunched or just supersized, statement sleeves create a dynamic silhouette this season. This beautiful lace detailing adds a flourish to River Island’s otherwise simple striped shirt, and proves an eye-catching combination when paired with Marks & Spencer’s slinky printed trousers. Sling an elegant bag from House of Fraser over your shoulder and you’re sure to turn heads.
Pinstripe lace insert top – River Island £35, Patterned wide leg trousers – Marks & Spencer £29.50, Maroon chain bag – Therapy @ House of Fraser £35, Blue suede mules – New Look £25.99 and Silver and crystal curved ring – Swarovski £79
Look 2 – Powerful Pink
The catwalks were awash with colour this season, and pink – not saccharine sweet but hot fuchsia – was the standout palette of choice. You could keep things low-key by colour blocking and layering, or go big and dare to dress head-to-toe in this high-octane shade, jazzing up your look with cute pink accessories. Next’s ruffled jumper is a hot look right now, especially when worn cinched in at the waist with a pencil-thin belt. And this spring, the smaller the bag the better, making this dainty pink bag from TK Maxx bang on trend.
Bright pink ruffle shoulder jumper – Next £28, Pale pink mini skirt – Dorothy Perkins £22, Pale pink suede block heel – Marks & Spencer £45, Neon pink faux croc waist belt – TK Maxx £14.99 and
Pink and khaki mini jelly duffle – TK Maxx £119
Look 3 – Fine Florals
As Meryl Streep’s character famously intoned in The Devil Wears Prada, florals aren’t exactly ground breaking for spring – but this season’s eye-popping bouquets are fun and whimsical rather than soft and prim. Take this silky satin skirt from Dorothy Perkins, which is offset by its bold blooms and looks the part when teamed with Topshop’s clashing striped shirt. In fact, the utilitarian theme is another talking point this season (think oversized deconstructed shirts with the buttons done up wrong or worn tied at the waist). To perfect your look, throw on a mini bag, this time from Zara.
Navy and blue pinstripe shirt – Topshop £38, Black and pink floral print satin midi skirt – Dorothy Perkins £40, Baby pink bandana wrap handle bag – Zara £29.99 and Red suede slider sandal – Jones Bootmaker in House of Fraser £69
Look 4 – Edgy Metallic
If florals aren’t your thing, consider pairing a striped shirt with fluid metallic such as this cool silver ruffle skirt from Zara. Whether gold, silver or bronze, the trend for shiny futuristic metallics cropped up all over the runways, stemming from fashion’s revived penchant for the Eighties.
Silver metallic mini skirt – Zara £19.99
Look 4 – Perfect Pleats
Romance is in the air this spring/summer, with frills, ruffles and ribbons adorning many of the catwalks. We’re particularly enamoured of the pretty pleat detailing on this glittery midi skirt from H&M. A classic and elegant choice, it’s the perfect way to explore the trend. Channel a relaxed, slouchy look and team it with Topshop’s loose-fitting gingham top, adding these cute pink slider shoes from Schuh for when the sun comes out.
Look 5 – Ballerina Tulle
Tulle is everywhere this season and comes in a rainbow of colours. This bold tulle maxi skirt from Topshop is the perfect feminine counterpart to River Island’s cool slogan t-shirt, bringing a frothy and flouncy essence to an otherwise grungy look. Keep things simple with metallic tennis shoes and stacking rings and you’ll cut a fine figure wherever you go.
