Summer is here and that means long days on the beach with a drink in one hand and book in the other. Or if you’re anything like me and aren’t going abroad this year, it’s still drink in one hand, book in the other but in the garden! I have had many people ask for recommendations for good books to read on those particularly special days where you have time to sit and relax so here is a taster of the best from Waterstones.
For those among us who are after a classic “beach read” i.e. something gripping and well-written to enjoy on your holiday. I would recommend reading Ferdinand Von Schirach’s THE GIRL WHO WASN’T THERE, this book is perfect if you’re in the mood for a good thriller that’s very well written. The last beach read option is Sarah Waters brilliant new book THE PAYING GUESTS this book is definitely a page turner and paints a fascinating portrait of London on the verge of great change.
The Girl Who Wasn’t There – Paperback £10.39 and The Paying Guest- Hardback £15.00
For me the must-read book of the moment is the highly anticipated Harper Lee sequel To Kill A Mockingbird, GO SET A WATCHMAN. It’s the book that everyone is going to be talking about for the foreseeable future and so far, it’s been incredibly controversial. So whether or not you’ve read Mockingbird, Watchman is the book to have an opinion on this summer!
Go Set A Watchman- Hardback £18.99
