High Wycombe Mutual Aid was set up in March this year by a group of local residents as a way to support our community through the Covid-19 crisis.
They now have over 400 volunteers from different areas and backgrounds across Wycombe, united in the shared goal of making sure no one is left to struggle alone during this difficult period.
If you’re told to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace, or need to stay at home to protect yourself and others, let them know and their team of volunteers can bring you the supplies you need.
They can pick up your prescriptions, do your shopping for you, or even check in for a friendly phone call. They’ll pair you up with a DBS-checked volunteer who lives nearby, who can support you and your household for as long as you need.
With more than 200 people helped so far and new requests coming in everyday, their growing volunteer base has made it possible to make sure no one is left without support.
Here’s some quotes from people they are supporting:
‘[My volunteer] is such a nice young man and I am so grateful for all of his help. Please give him a gold star!’
“She has lived alone for many years and is used to being self-sufficient, but got very upset Sunday evening, not knowing what to do as her friends had self isolated and could no longer help her. I am so relieved that you are offering the service you are. You are literally angels to use relatives who don’t live close by. Much appreciated”
‘[My volunteer] is an amazing woman, she gets my shopping weekly and nothing is ever too much trouble.’
