High Wycombe Shopmobility Celebrates 25th Anniversary

Local Charity Celebrates 25th Anniversary

High Wycombe Shopmobility is a small and friendly local charity, who have offered the free daily hire of mobility scooters, manual and powered wheelchairs for those with limited mobility to use in the town centre for 25 years now.

They first opened their doors in April 1994 and were originally located on the second floor of the old Newlands car park, with a handful of machines, no running water or toilet facilities! Since then they have come a long way, they now have 23 mobility scooters, 4 power chairs for daily hire and 19 manual wheelchairs for daily hire, manual wheelchairs are also available for long term hire for a small fee.

They celebrated their 25th Anniversary on Saturday 16th June with tea and cake at their shop in Eden Shopping Centre. The event was a great success and was well attended by customers, supporters and local dignitaries.

They are also celebrating being awarded the National Federation of Shopmobility’s Tom Hillier Award for providing excellent service and the disability awareness events they’ve held in the community, which means they are the best in the country!

Their team of dedicated staff and volunteers are here 7 days a week to help you visit the town and regain your independence. If you would like more information on how the service could benefit you or have a spare few hours each week and would like to volunteer with them please contact the shop on 01494 472277 or visit their website www.shopmobilityhighwycombe.co.uk
