High Wycombe Wins the Tom Hillier Award 2018 for Shopmobility

The Tom Hillier Award was created after the passing of National Federation Shopmobility’s UK founder, Tom Hillier, in 1991. The award celebrates exceptional service to members.
High Wycombe Shopmobility was one of five schemes nominated for the 2018 award, and along with nominations from customers at Eden Shopping Centre, High Wycombe Shopmobility also took part in live radio broadcasts and carried out regular awareness events in the local area.

High Wycombe Shopmobility provides disability awareness training to security staff at Eden Shopping Centre and they have signed up to the Safe Place Scheme and are a safe haven for vulnerable people in the community. For these reasons customers, who in their own words, said they ‘would be lost without the service’ and that ‘High Wycombe is a very worthy winner of the 2018 Tom Hillier Award.’

The High Wycombe Shopmobility Manager, Claire McMackin, said “We are bursting with pride for being awarded the Tom Hillier award for providing an outstanding service. As a small local charity it is amazing to have national recognition for the service we provide.
We have a wonderful team of 5 part time staff, 12 volunteers and a board of trustees, and we have always prided ourselves on the fabulous free service we offer to our customers.
To be nominated by our customers and recognised with this National Award is absolutely fantastic.

We would like to thank and congratulate everyone who makes High Wycombe Shopmobility such a fabulous place to work and visit.”
