Hayley Karseras @ladyofthemanor77 is a stylist, personal shopper, influencer and regular shopper here at Eden. Hayley hit our stores to show you how to ease yourself into autumn.
The nights are drawing in, the leaves are turning all shades of crimson red and burnt orange, and our homes are calling us to stay in and keep cosy! There’s never been a better time to get your sacred space autumn-ready.
Throws and Blankets
Throws and blankets can turn your lounge into a cosy nest. Whether they’re stylishly thrown over the back of a sofa, folded neatly on one end of a coffee table or simply slung over an armrest. Keep them accessible and visible. My favourites are these Faux Fur throws from TK Maxx.
My Tip: roll them and store them in a basket or trunk. It keeps them out of the way when you don’t need them and creates a sense of warmth and texture in your room.
Throws: Prices start at £19.99
Sheepskin Rugs and Faux Fur Cushions
Lay a sheepskin rug at the foot of your sofa or by your bed and you will step into the cosiest, softest wool when you slip off your shoes. Alternatively, drape them over an armchair and scatter with faux fur cushions for a soft, textured look that will make you want to snuggle in the evening.
These are from TK Maxx but House of Fraser also have a fantastic selection from the Biba range.
Sheepskin rug £29.99
Cushions from £9.99
Lanterns and Candles
Place some large white pillar candles in different shaped and sized lanterns to create a relaxing and warm atmosphere. House of Fraser sell the Hotel Collection and there’s even a range called ‘Autumn’. It smells divine and looks good on your shelf too!
My Tip: if you don’t want to light a fire, place 4-5 different height candles in the hearth and light them to create a similar effect for the darker evenings. No mess or smoke but same cosy effect!
Lanterns start at £60
Hotel Collection range starts at £12 for room spray…
Invest in a heavier, textured bedspread. These beautiful velvet chevron ones are by Linea at House of Fraser and start at £165 for a king size.
My tip: fold them up and place them on a chest at the end of your bed for an opulent and luxurious feel in your bedroom when not in use.
Fill your home with delicious smells of home cooking. This beautiful autumnal Casserole dish will help you create easy, one-step dishes for all the family on an autumn evening. This 25.5cm dish is now on sale for £35 in House of Fraser.
My Tip: put in all the ingredients first thing in the morning, put the lid on and leave in a very slow oven all day and then you can come home to the smell of a home-cooked casserole and know that you have nothing else you need to do.
Silk flowers are a stylish and hassle-free way to bring the outside in and introduce some Beautiful autumnal colours to any room. I particularly love the mulberry colours in this combination of silk flowers in a lovely tin jug from Marks & Spencer. Price: £25
My Tip: If you don’t want to invest in silk flowers, just washout small jam jars and fill with little branches and leaves and Holly from the garden and use to decorate your dinner table, mantelpiece or dressing table.
Set the Scene
You’ve made the casserole, now create the perfect table setting for family and friends this autumn. One of my favourite styles of table setting for this time of year includes lots of woods and natural colours and materials. I particularly love these natural table mats in beige and this beautiful heart-shaped wooden chopping board. Both from Marks and Spencer.
My Tip: Use the chopping board as a plate for tea lights and candles and little vases filled with autumn sprigs and leaves picked from the garden.
Placemats: £9.50 each
Chopping board: £15
These stunning, cosy pyjama and dressing gown sets are the perfect way to get into your relaxed and cosy mood on dark autumn evenings. I love the pink and burgundy combination and this gorgeous star pattern. These are Marks & Spencer’s and prices start at £35 for the pyjamas.
Indulge yourself in some me-time and create a spa in your own bathroom at home this autumn with some beautiful smelling luxurious creams, lotions and potions from The Body Shop. Prices in their ‘Spa of the world’ range start at £7.
My Tip: Just add candles and a glass of wine!
I couldn’t do an autumn-themed blog for you without including at least one piece of clothing could I?!! I couldn’t resist this stunning military-style autumn coat from Monsoon priced at £150. It’s the perfect length and I love the beautiful gold button detail.
My Tip: take some inspiration from some of the more expensive shops, and then head to some of the more affordable High Street chains like New Look and H&M for a bargain-tastic alternative.
