x2 Assistant Centre Managers

Arka Learning is an exciting new startup with a bold vision to transform supplementary education in the UK. Our mission is to deliver outstanding educational programmes that are accessible to parents and bring joy to learning for students. We are building a network of innovative Learning Centres across the UK, initially supporting primary age students with Maths and English.

We are seeking two Assistant Centre Managers to join us in this transformative adventure in education. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of Arka learning with the potential to become a Centre Director or move into a Head Office role as the company grows.

The Role

Key areas of responsibility will vary as we establish new routines and working practices, but will encompass:

  • Tutoring primary aged students in English and Maths
  • Acting as a role model to less experienced tutors and assisting with training where appropriate
  • Marking initial assessments and determining students’ Learning Plans from our curriculum
  • Tracking students’ progress and overseeing the rewards system
  • Onboarding new students and ensuring they have the appropriate materials
  • Monitoring and updating our student records
  • Being the qualified first aider on site (full training will be provided)
  • Being the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (full training will be provided)
  • Scheduling and time tracking for tutors
  • Contributing to sales and marketing to bring in new members

The Assistant Centre Managers will report to the Centre Director who will be available to provide any necessary support. Our mission is to create centres that are joyful places of learning. Central to achieving this will be a commitment to ensuring our staff are supported and love their roles.

Working Hours

Our centres are open 6 days per week. You will be required to work for 5 of the 6 days including on alternate Saturdays. On weeks that you are required to work on Saturday you will have another weekday off. Working hours will typically be as follows:

Monday 11am – 8:00pm

Tuesday 11am – 8:00pm

Wednesday 11am – 8:00pm

Thursday 11am – 8:00pm

Friday 9am – 6:00pm

Saturday 9am – 5:00pm

(These times include a one-hour lunch break each day.)

The Person

Our goal is to provide after-school childcare environments that children love to come to and where learning is a joy. As such this role would suit someone who is positive, patient and enjoys working with children.

You will be a strong communicator who is not afraid to have difficult conversations to achieve the very best for a child. You will also have a commitment to self-reflection and taking responsibility for your own actions and the actions of your team.

During the launch period there will inevitably be some degree of uncertainty while we try out new ideas and establish best practices. While we are committed to a supportive work environment, this may make the role more enjoyable for someone who is adaptable and comfortable with change.

Candidates must be over 18 and have achieved at least five GCSEs at grades 4-9 (C-A*) including English and Maths. Some experience of leadership is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
